BIOMIC V3 is an open clinical microbiology system for automating the reading and CLSI or EUCAST interpretation of antibiotic susceptibility and organism identification tests from various manufacturers. BIOMIC V3 specializes in monitoring global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) trends.

An LIS interface combined with bar code reading and touch-screen entry offers labs an optimal setup to standardize, record and report results. All test results are saved in high resolution. BIOMIC V3 is designed and manufactured by Giles Scientific in Santa Barbara, California, USA.

BIOMIC V3 TESTING MODULES

Broth Microdilution
This optional BIOMIC V3 module automates the reading and interpretation of broth microdilution MIC plates* for human and veterinary labs including Sensititre (Thermo), MicroScan (Beckman), MICRONAUT (Bruker), ComASP (Liofilchem), and custom plates.
Disk Diffusion
This optional BIOMIC V3 module automates reading, interpreting, and expert review of CLSI or EUCAST antibiotic disk diffusion (Kirby-Bauer) tests on 90-150mm plates.
MIC Strip
This optional BIOMIC V3 module automates reading, interpreting, and expert review of CLSI or EUCAST MIC Strips from Etest (bioMerieux) and MIC Test Strips (Liofilchem) on 90-150mm plates.
Organism ID
This optional BIOMIC V3 module reads and interprets organism identification panels from API (bioMerieux), RapID (Thermo), and Liofilchem ID systems.
Colony Count
This optional BIOMIC V3 module automates colony counting including pour plates, filter plates, chromogenic agar plates, plaque assays. ​This saves 99% of reading time and removes subjectivity and transcription errors.
Agar Dilution
This optional BIOMIC V3 module automates reading, interpreting, and expert review of CLSI or EUCAST agar dilution including standard, commercial, and custom plates. 
Urine Screen
This optional BIOMIC V3 module analyzes microtiter plates containing chromogenic agar to screen out negative urine samples. This software module is ideal for high volume microbiology labs.
