"This the first time the laboratory has utilised automated zone reading equipment, we had a few internal operational issues to deal with prior to going live with our LIS and I could only commend the BIOMIC V3 team for their continued advice and support, over a protracted amount of time. We changed from BSAC to EUCAST guidelines in 2011 and are currently using two BIOMIC V3’s in two labs to record all QC and routinely for the reading of MRSA sensitivities; this has saved time and added consistency to our processes. "Automated Etest, Disc, and API reading using CLSI & EUCAST guidelines with BIOMIC V3"

"The BIOMIC V3 system contributes greatly to reducing the workload in our laboratory routine. Reading disc susceptibility tests and Etests with BIOMIC V3 is quick and reliable. Results are available to be reviewed at any time because they are stored in the database. Another great advantage of the system is that it allows CLSI or EUCAST guidelines according to the user selection, and additionally provided annual updates of the guidelines. The system allows the reading API panels and has the ability to quickly count colonies on plated media, which greatly facilitates the work when food, water or environment samples are processed. BIOMIC V3 also performs quality control for susceptibility testing. A striking feature is how easily it was to incorporate BIOMIC V3 into the normal work routine already established in the laboratory, requiring no major changes in the daily routine of the staff. To summarize BIOMIC V3, it is a very useful tool for working in the microbiology laboratory as it helps to reduce the burden of labor of standardized laboratory operations and builds a database available for future revisions."
